A project initiated by retired U.S. volunteer firefighter, Cliff Faldman and Aruba's fire department resulted in a donation of 1300 toys for the children of Breezy Point firefighters who had lost everything in fires caused by Hurricane Sandy. Aruba Tourism Authority assisted in these efforts, along with Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association, Aruba Time Share Association, Jet Blue, toystores islandwide, Caribbean Mercantile Bank and many other partners. The goal was to collect 1000 toys, but the response from the community and island visitors was overwhelming, resulting in a final count of 1300 toys, including toys bought with funds received as donations. Each child received 3 to 4 toys.
