Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) is extending the apron at the General Aviation facilities at the airport. The project is budgeted at 11 million USD.
Members of Parliament Chris Dammers and Clarisca Velasquez were among invitees present at the unveiling of the sign, which was carried out by the CEO of AAA, Peter Steinmetz and Minister of Tourism, Transportation and Labor, Otmar Oduber, together with AAA Director of Operations Jurgen Benschop.
The project will provide an additional 21,000 square meters, which is an expansion of 78% of the parking area, providing space for another 25 aircraft. The taxi way will also be equipped with LED lights, and result in considerable savings for the facilities.
The project also includes the addition of a taxiway parallel to the existing one. All construction is being realized according to ICAO standards.
Steinmetz said there has been an increase in demand for general aviation services and the project will be completed within ten months.
