On Thursday Parliament approved a new law, which for the first time includes a chapter on sexual harassment at work. The law states that the employer has to guarantee an ambiance free of sexual intimidation for the employee while at work.
This is an important law for the entire community, Minister of Economic Affairs, Social Affairs and Culture, Minister Michelle Hooyboer-Winklaar said.
Aruba previously had no law on sexual harassment and now that the changes in the civil code have been approved the minister said she is convinced that the law will provide for a more tranquil, more comfortable working environment for many employees.
